Life's... not fair. Is it my little friend? (PaleoThoughts)

In the Cretaceous period , and the whole dinosaur era in general , there was a great variety in sizes . From super small mammals , lizards and insects to the large bipedal predators and the gigantic sauropods .


Someone can argue that this is happening today as well . But now life has got smaller than it used to be . I mean , the small animals remained relatively the same in size , but then the large ones got noticeably smaller ( except for the whales , but we are talking about terrestrial species in here ) .


I don't know what's the cause of this . Maybe there was more food in the past . Maybe mammals can not grow as big as dinosaurs easily . I am sure science has an answer for this , but here I am just sharing my thoughts that led me to create this piece .
